Naturopathic Consultations
The initial consultation is 1.5 hours for adults and 1 hour for children. This will include a review of the patient intake form, an in-depth history taking, review of laboratory tests and physical exam. An individualized treatment plan using a combination of the Naturopathic Modalities is prescribed at this time. Follow-up consultations are 30-45 minutes. Typically questions about a treatment protocol arise after the visit. There is no charge for brief phone consultations. If you have health concerns that require more extensive counselling please schedule an appointment.
Note: The cost of Naturopathic Health care is a concern for most people since it is not covered by our Provincial Medicare plan. Many private health care plans will provide coverage for Naturopathic Services.
Acupuncture Treatments
Acupuncture treatments may be part of your treatment plan. Acupuncture protocols are based on Chinese medical philosophy and are performed using pre-sterilized single-use needles.
Saliva Hormone Testing
Hormone imbalance can lead to symptoms such as mood swings, lowered sex drive, hot flashes and chronic health problems. Saliva hormone testing may reveal these imbalances. While blood testing measures the amount of hormone that may reach the tissue and have an action, saliva hormone testing measures the amount of hormone that actually gets to the tissue because hormones must pass the tissue of the salivary glands to enter the saliva. Saliva hormone levels tend to correlate better with a patient’s symptoms. An initial consultation is not necessary to use this service but is it is recommended that results are reviewed and treatment is implemented under the care of a Naturopathic Doctor.
Hair Analysis for Heavy Metals
Research has shown that hair closely reflects the minerals the body contains. Analysis of the hair can show the toxic minerals that have accumulated or the nutritional minerals that are deficient. Hair analysis collections kits are available and analysis may be recommended as part of a treatment plan. |
